4 Important Signs You Need Dentures

Many people wrongly assume that dentures are just for old people; however, that is not true. Dentures can be a useful tool for people of various ages with various dental needs. Here are a few signs that you may be a candidate for dentures.

Sign #1: No Regular Dental Care

If you do not get regular dental care, you may need to get dentures. Regular dental care is needed in order to ensure that you don't suffer from tooth decay or from gum disease. Seeing the dentist on a regular basis can help protect you from the damage that these two different diseases can present. A dentist can spot gum disease and tooth decay and take care of it immediately. If these things are not taken care of, your teeth may need to be extracted, and you may eventually need dentures.

Sign #2: Loose Teeth

If you are not a child who is losing their baby teeth, your teeth should not be loose. They should be tight and secure, and almost immovable. If your teeth are loose and shifting around, that is not a good sign. Shifting and loose teeth are often a sign that you are suffering from gum disease and that your teeth are to the point where they may need to be extracted. If your teeth are extracted, you may need dentures.

Sign #3: Tender Gums

If your gums are always tender and in pain, you may have either periodontal disease or you may be in the early stages of gingivitis. One of the side effects of gum disease is adult tooth loss. If you lose your teeth, then you are going to become a prime candidate for dentures.

If your gums have just started to be tender, get to the dentist right away. You may be able to stop the disease before it progresses further. If this has been happening for a while, you are at risk of losing your teeth and needing dentures.

Sign #4: Damaged Teeth

If you have lots of missing or damaged teeth, and you want to enjoy your smile again, one way to reach that goal is by getting dentures. Dentures are an affordable way to fix your mouth when you suffer from numerous missing and damaged teeth.

If you suffer from lots of missing and damaged teeth, you have lots of loose teeth, or you have tender gums, you could be a future candidate for dentures. Dentures are an affordable way to fix your smile when you suffer from lost teeth.

About Me

The ABCs of Teaching Kids About Dental Hygiene

As a parent, my mornings typically start by fighting my children about brushing their teeth. By the time we get to flossing, I am exhausted. After searching online and talking to other parents, I discovered that my children were not the only ones who hated brushing and flossing. I talked to our family dentist to learn of ways to encourage them to take care of their teeth. I created this blog to help other parents find the information they need to encourage their children to practice good dental care. With the right guidance, you can find a way to get your kids excited about dental hygiene.
